INTRODUCTION
Each day of February there will be a Haiku prompt offered by this link: HAIKU CHALLENGE 2012 You can register on their site and post your poems to a Mister Linky thingy. If you enjoy writing Haiku this site is well worth a look.They have some interesting challenges for the different days including a NaiSaiKu on day 12.
I will attempt to do as many of the days as I can, however I can't promise to stay the course.

The following was inspired by Tony Walsh's poem
that was commissioned by the BBC.

WHAT MANCHESTER DOES TODAY
The biggest team in the world V the richest team in the world today
Anyway, it’s derby day, the football barmy red and blue armies
are on the march to the match from the Kippax Street, and the Stretford End
but it’s not only bragging rights at stake in this Manchester derby
it’s the FA Cup, City are the holders, but United are tough
with, Rooney and Giggs. But are City’s, Aguero and Silva enough?
Remember the days of Lee, Bell, and Summerbee, Charlton, Law, and Best?
And all that silverware? Frank Swift and the Busby Babes, lest we forget!

If you can’t get a ticket you’ll be down the pub to watch the big screen
it’ll be the third round at the kick-off, and the fifth round by half-time
and ten pints or more before one side trots off into the fourth round draw.
In every pub in Manchester and for miles and miles around, up town,
down town, red pubs, blue pubs, old pubs, new pubs, everyone will know the score.
You’ll hear the roar as the goals pour in, in Bahrain, Hong Kong, and Bangkok
three or four? Maybe more, home, away, win, or lose, you’ll shout up the booze
to celebrate that what Manchester does today the world still follows…

Welcome to my Haiku wall, I got the idea in Dublin earlier this month. A building site in O'Connell street had a painted wall with 'I'm afraid of...'' written on it and people had chalked things like 'Driving on the wrong side of the road' and 'Double decker buses', to complete the sentence. I thought what a great idea, you could do the same thing with Haiku.
PROMPT ONE
I came up with the thought: I like spending time... or I like spending time with you... and I wrote a few examples. The idea is that you write something using my thought and drop it in my comments box. If you publish it on your own blog too, please leave a link so we can all read and comment there as well.

Phew, we've come to the end of the Haiku Heights Challenge, where we had to write thirty Haiku in thirty days. You would probably only expect to write two or three decent ones in that time, but the challenge goes beyond that. You get the opportunity to read everybody else's work and comment on the progress of the challenge each day.
WRITING
At the end of the day we are all writers, and the Haiku Challenge can only make us better, better informed, better read, and better writers.
HAIKU
Over the last thirty days I have written more Haiku than in my life previously, not only have I managed to complete the Haiku Challenge but I have also accumulated a few extra Haiku that I did not use. When I say Haiku, I'm talking about a fairly broad school, most of them wouldn't qualify in the traditional or academic sense, but the trick is just to write something, and see what happens.

CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to each and every person who once again managed to write thirty poems in thirty days. This has been my third year of participation and I have truly enjoyed the challenge.
FlameThrower! Poetry..
During the course of this years NaPoWriMo I have managed to write several of my (for want of a better description) FlameThrower! Poems. I first started writing them sometime last year, and the form has gone in a few different directions since then, but I now think I've found the way that I want these poems to read. I will put a couple of examples below, and some links for your further reading.
THE FLAMETHROWER! FORM
I think I developed the FlameThrower! form from my attempt at writing syllable sestina's. I was never very good at them, but I liked the repetition from the end of one line to the start of the next, and this kind of just blossomed into what I now call the FlameThrower!
Acrostic FlameThrower!
Here's an example of an Acrostic FlameThrower! poem.

ETERNITY MELTS

Woden's day, woe betide the evening
Even now while the day is young there's death
Death without mercy for the numberless
Numberless, nameless nations of Woden.
Even though we wish it not so, so soon
So soon it will come without mercy, death
Deathly death and the foolish are afraid
Afraid like Virginia Woolf even?
Yet there is life for us to live today

Today, tomorrow and beyond to hell
Hellishness of hell the foolish relish
Relishing the blood without mercy yet.

In the one below, the anagram is revealed in the title, but you'll notice that the style or form isn't as fully developed as the other examples above. All of my poetry is experimental and is pretty much a first draft - therefore, I reserve the right to change it if I think it's necessary.

Every baker's dozen makes me wanna bake
Bake a cake, to take to kindergarten...
Kindda makes me wanna make one to eat
Eat it all up! All the good boys do that...

Rapunzel! you really must eat it all

I got the inspiration for this twin poem from two sources
Firstly from a prompt I saw on readwritepoem:
‘A woman left a poem for the milkman instead of a note.’
And secondly from the Saturday Scribes prompt:
Write a twin poem. With the theme; ‘What we need.’

My Mad Method: I wrote two poems, 1, a note for the milkman,
2, a little love poem. Then I cut out each line with a pair of
Scissors and randomly reconstructed the poems, the result is below.

WRONG NOTE
I wrote a note For the milkman
Two pints of sterra For the acrobat
A bokkle of orange To take to work
A pint of Jersey milk For her cornflakes
And a dirty big carton Packed with cream
Not the whatsit fingy Not that thin stuff
But the proper job Deep Devon clotted
A lump of sugar A slice of saffron cake
To suck in the rain The Hog’s pudding’s rising
This is a wish list

Paradise for those that can see beyond this place

Here's the thingy I made from it:

CRESCENDO
She's sprouting like my silver nutmeg tree
but why the hell did she delete the phrase
that message wasn't meant to be so crude
the way that she recounts it anyway.

Sure flattery will get her everywhere
but she best leave that perfume in the drawer.
She's so inept at making up to me

About the FlameThrower!

FLAME THROWER
I've been writing these daft poems for a couple of years now and the best name I can conjure up for them is FlameThrower! I have done several versions of them, but I think I may now have a form.
THE SEVEN STANZA FT
There was one I wrote for last years NaPoWriMo, that I really liked, but at seven four line stanza's, I think it's not quite what I'm looking for as a form. It was a bit different from the ones I've been writing this April because each four line stanza was a complete mini-flame-thrower by itself.
ACROSTIC FLAME THROWER
Some of the recent FlameThrower! posts I have made, like Coincidentally have had an acrostic word inbedded in them. I also toyed with the idea of an acrostic anagram, but I think that may well be a bridge too far.
HOW MANY LINES?
The other inconsistancy, is the fact that some of my FlameThrower's are twelve lines long while others have fourteen. In the case of the seven stanza FT there are of course twenty-eight lines.
However, I have decided that my FT's look best with three four line stanza's and a two line conclusion, giving me a total line count of fourteen.
EACH LINE
Each line has ten syllables, that's always been the case and that's the way I think it should stay.
CONCLUSION?
So what's the conclusion? Well the problem is, I haven't reached one yet. I intend to write a few more samples of the FlameThrower! form before the end of this April's NaPoWriMo, and after that I will publish my conclusion sometime during the first week of May.

Laugh, Corrugated, Gloomy, Hovels, Words, Feeble,
Crucial, Hum, Cobwebs, Dandelion, Scrambling, Ash.

SHOUTS FROM THE TOP FLOOR
Scrambling over hot Parisian coals,
the heat underfoot making his feet bleed,
He stumbles on the ash in the attic.
Taking a slurp of dandelion soup.
The corrugated cardboard cut-out girl
at the counter starts to laugh as he hums.
Words escape as she sings a feeble song,
the cobwebs vibrate in the gloomy room.

It's crucial that these hovels be demolished soon!
a do-gooder shouts from the top floor of Modigliani's house.

The prompt at Sunday Scribblings today is Befuddled.

SHE CAN LAUGH
In the cobwebs of her mind
she can see to tell the time
if she could walk like you and me
she'd ride a bike and learn to ski
she writes the words that others read.

She builds castles in the sky
she knows the flowers by their smell
then today she said to me:
You know the grass is really green
and I can smell a yellow flower
is it growing on the ground
or is it hanging off a tree?

I told her that I saw it too
It's beautiful, a dandelion
there's more than one there's two or three
they're all growing on the ground
and there's blossom on this tree.

She said she's going to Africa
to feel a Water Buffalo
on a touching safari.
Mystified and befuddled
I asked her if she likes Giraffes?
That's how I know that she can laugh.

TIME LINES
You've got a terrible cough, she told me.

WELCOME
Okay it's day three of Napowrimo already, and I'm worried sick about going to the hospital on Tuesday, surgeons always recommend surgery like butchers always want to sell you meat. I wrote the piece below before I checked last years Day Three offering, and there's a remarkable similarity in the style. Phew!

ACROSTIC

April is National Poetry Writing Month in America.
Many poets commit themselves to writing thirty poems in thirty days.
I had a go last year and in 2009 and although I didn't write anything brilliant, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. So here I am sitting at the keyboard, waiting for inspiration...
